Reverberation Mapping of Two Luminous Quasars: The Broad-line Region Structure and Black Hole Mass

We report the results of a multiyear spectroscopic and photometric monitoring campaign two luminous quasars, PG 0923+201 1001+291, both located at high-luminosity end broad-line region (BLR) size–luminosity relation with optical luminosities above 1045 erg s?1. is monitored for first time, while 1001+291 was previously but our has much longer temporal baseline. detect time lags variations broad H?, H?, Fe ii lines respect to those 5100 Å continuum. The velocity-resolved delay map H? in indicates complicated structure mix Keplerian disk-like motion outflow, shows signature motion. Assuming virial factor fBLR = 1 FWHM line widths, we measure black hole mass be 1001+291. Their respective accretion rates are estimated , indicating that sub-Eddington accretor super-Eddington accretor. While lag agrees relation, significant deviation, confirming active galactic nuclei (AGNs), BLR size depends on luminosity Eddington ratio. Black estimates from single-AGN spectra will overestimated high redshifts if this effect not taken into account.
